Itinerary
Pure Nature, step by step
The order may change depending on traffic, weather, ship arrival, or local conditions.
All listed main components remain part of the tour.
Cruise guests meet their guide at the port exit on the street side at the Maratopia sign.
The tour begins once the ship has docked and guests are permitted to disembark. Independent travelers start directly at Maratopia by prior arrangement.
In the tropical garden, large blue morpho butterflies are a signature part of the experience.
With a little luck, you may also see poison dart frogs, sloths, iguanas, howler monkeys, and tropical birds. These wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
The visit includes a small tasting of seasonal fruit.
The drive to Cahuita follows the green Caribbean coast, passing palm trees, small communities, and typical scenes of everyday life in Costa Rica.
In Cahuita National Park, tropical rainforest, beach, sea, and wildlife come together.
The pleasant trail leads through jungle and coastal scenery. With a little luck, you may spot capuchin monkeys, sloths, iguanas, birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
A stop at the Caribbean beach is planned in the national park. If weather, sea conditions, and timing allow, you may swim there.
After the national park, return comfortably to the starting point. If enough time remains and there is interest, a short souvenir stop may be included.
For cruise guests, the return is adjusted to the ship’s actual time in port.
Animals & Nature
What animals might you see?
The tour passes through natural habitats. What appears depends on the time of day, weather, and natural conditions.
Morpho butterflies are a signature part of the Maratopia experience. All other animals live freely in their natural environment, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
